Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration

Carpet and Furniture Drying to Prevent Mold Growth

When a living room flooded from a broken water pipe, the homeowner was left with the difficult task of drying carpets and furniture quickly. Luckily, SERVPRO of North Irving was able to save the day and make sure the home didn't suffer from mold growth.

"We had a water pipe break in the living room area. The homeowner came home and noticed water pooling up on the carpet, but no visible signs of a leak," said Anthony, a SERVPRO Dallas Mold Remediation team member. "It was a stressful discovery for the family. We had to act quickly and dry everything out before mold growth could start."

Sprinkler system for fire prevention successfully prevented the water from ruining the space below the living room. The carpet, drywall, and all furniture were completely soaked.

"We needed to act quickly, but it was difficult with everyone's schedules," said Anthony. "Luckily, the water only affected the living room, so we were able to work in shifts."

It took four people working three-hour shifts for nearly four days to dry the living room completely. They estimated that they moved over 25,000 pounds of wet furniture and carpet padding to expedite the drying process.

"The living room is where the family spends most of their time. It's important to keep them comfortable during this stressful situation," said Anthony. "We were able to get the living room dried in time, and we took care of the mold with a quick cleanup."

A professional cleaning restored the carpet and furniture to their prior condition.
